This is an introductory course book that teaches C++ programming. The book concentrates on the procedural paradigm. It is intended for students who possibly have not programmed before and wish to go to university and study Computer Science or a related course. The book is alright. It isn't the best. It seems to go in fast without too much explaining. For instance, in chapter 7, I believe, he talks about functions, and even uses the pass by reference, but doesn't really explain it or why you'd use that over pass by value. Just a lot of stuff like that, and also, there are a lot of spelling errors, and typos(not that anyone is perfect) but it should have gone through a spell check. Along with the typos, some of the sample codes in the book have errors(syntax and logical). For instance in one example he uses #include twice. Another example where there would be a logical error is he is basically have the user input a month and then displaying how many days are in the month. In the example where he is showing the if statement version(before the switch statement version), poor month 10 is left out =( ---well according to the program(which uses the else statement) October would have either 28 or 29 days depending on if its a leap year or not. (which is a logical error). So the book is alright, but it is not the best book out there. And with the amount of errors in it, it might make learning C++ for a beginner even more difficult.Product details
