I'm not a romance reader but read this book on a friend's recommendation. Never knew romances could include humor, but Daisy has many hilarious, almost slapstick, moments as well as heart-pounding sexual tension between Max and Daisy. They go through misunderstandings and not the best behavior until they manage to get together. Clever plotting, twists, surprises plus vivid settings like Alaska's Inside Passage and the fictional yet Alaska-true Otter Bite region complete with a tame bear named Yogi. McConnell is a smart, literate writer, another surprise for this non-romance reader. I'll continue reading McConnell's books.Product details

This was such a sweet little surprise of a read. Humor, romance, wit and charm, who could ask for more.
The story line was great. It was full of surprises, hilarity, and some serious frustration. Max was the most frustrating of a character but also one that you couldn’t forget if you tried. His character kept me reading. I had how his character grew and blossomed, if he even did. He is a character you’ll love to hate, for sure.
Details and descriptions were spot on. The descriptions of the scenery definitely made me want to visit Alaska and see the scenery and the sights. I enjoy cold weather so this was just a little extra push to make me want to visit. The details made it incredibly easy to keep reading, to understand what was happening and the surroundings. These items made the story flow from page to page flawlessly.
I certainly enjoyed this story. It was an easy read, provided an entering and fun read, and allowed me to escape reality for a few hours.

A great, and quirky, contemporary romance!
The storyline of Spooning Daisy is so unique, which was an awesomely refreshing treat for a jaded book-blogger such as myself ;) Parts of it just sucked me right in and, before I knew it, an hour had passed and I wasn't ready to put the book down!
That being said, there were some parts that involved, let's just say, atypical "romance hero" behavior. But the chuckles I got throughout and the wonderful ending were well worth the scoffs I gave Max in the beginning.
All in all, I really enjoyed this story and its myriad of characters, and I otter be excited about the next Otter Bite novel!

This book was a really fun read! I loved the characters, the story was fun and kept me wanting to read page after page. It is a perfect love story set in a magical place and I highly recommend it!!
The sweet-simple front cover of this book hardly does justice to the multi-faceted characters, setting, and plot that intertwine on its pages. Daisy and Max grew on me as I got to know them, with their unique skills and talents, and their all-too-human foibles. I found myself caught up in their inescapable, off-and-on dance with its surprising twists and turns. I felt their highs and lows, from hilarious to dismaying to breathtakingly sexy--until a perfect ending finally came. Take the ferry ride to Otter Bite and immerse yourself in this smart, sleek, sophisticated romance, and you'll be a happy reader.
